sytycd--week three.

i'm officially in love with one couple on sytycd.
chelsie and mark.

i think chelsie is the most beautiful dancer that has graced the sytycd stage.
love, love, love chelsie.

and mark is so weird and quirky, it's endearing.

i'm not sure how many times i have watched this dance, but i can guarantee you that i'll watch it at least that many more times. i watched it at least six times when i watched the show...i kept rewinding it and then i had to rewind it one last time because i realized that i only watch chelsie, so i forced myself to watch mark. and in the last two hours, while i sit here at work, i have watched it seven times on youtube. and chances are, i'll watch it that many more times before the day is over. i love this dance.

and about those eliminated...i was a little shocked that chelsea was let go. i thought comfort would be going home. and i really wanted thayne to go (again), but i am okay with chris leaving, too.

the challenge: in the united states, we are in the charmed time of early summer, between memorial day and independence day. school is winding down. the pools are open. the grills are fired up. we linger longer in beds made up with crisp cottons...it is a magical time of year...we have the chance to honor our history during this time of year. to remember how our nation came to be. to remember those who have lived and died to protect the things we hold most dear. no matter what country you call home, there is opportunity here to celebrate every homeland. every nation. (i hope you will recognize these challenges--they are all borrowed from patriotic songs.)

week one: the emblem of the land i love.
week two: the twilight's last gleaming.
week three: my home sweet home.
week four: stars and/or stripes forever.

and now last, but not least, stars and/or stripes forever.

i'm a sucker for a good pedicure. and as much as i love having baby soft heels (if only for a day or so), i love having fun painted toes even more. the best thing about my pedicurist is she loves to do "holiday toes." so this year, for the fourth of july, i got some stars.

these are probably my most favoritest toes yet.
the base polish is an ashley creation she calls "dorothy toes."
they look just like ruby red slippers.
and aren't the blue rhinestones an excellent accent?
gotta love the fourth.

i love the smell of: the bathroom after i get ready in the morning.

i love the feel of: accomplishment.

sytycd--week two.

this was my favorite dance from last night.

this was my second favorite dance from last night.

my favorite couple this week was chelsie and mark.

the girl i think should go home tonight is susie.
the boy i think should go home tonight is thayne.

i guess we'll see.

*update*
totally bogus that marquis is going home.
totally okay that susie is going home.

a bit of a girl-crush.

so, ya know how i am a super ridiculous pop culture junkie? well, i am. and there are a couple of shows that i watch to get my fix. i really enjoy best week ever, but not as much as the soup. but even better than the soup is chelsea lately.

i'm not gonna lie...i have a mini girl-crush on chelsea handler. i think she is hilarious. i'm not sure what it is exactly, but i think she is one of the funniest people out there and i laugh everytime i watch her show. plus, she is super beautiful.

i just wanted to share, that's all.

roku.

last night was our monday night dinner group...roku.

jaime was our host and she made the most delicious barbequed pork with baked potatoes. it was her first meal, so she was a little nervous, but it was so good. nothing to be nervous about. besides, we'd eat anything and we'd enjoy it. that's just the kind of group we are. she also made a delicious dessert. it was a pie and i'm not exactly sure what all was in it, but it was chocolate and that is all that mattered.

after we ate, we sat around and laughed. we usually do that. that is my favorite part of dinner group. the fact that we are all so different, yet we can come together and have a good time and laugh and entertain each other and be entertained. when i leave dinner group, i always feel so refreshed and blessed for having the opportunity to spend time with friends.

anyway, i also remembered to take pictures of the "new" group this time, so enjoy.

that's ether and jaime.
she was getting the potatoes out of the oven...thus, the bowl.

it seems that jaime is always happy to pose for a picture, a good quality.
rowdy is on the left and jenni on the right.

me and sara, after finishing our meal...can't you tell how satisfied we were?

see, my empty plate.
(ps. don't you love jaime's silverware? i do.)

roku.
back row (left to right): jaime, rowdy, sara.
front row (right to left): ether, jenni, me.

week one: the emblem of the land i love.
week two: the twilight's last gleaming.
week three: my home sweet home.
week four: stars and/or stripes forever.

here is my home sweet home.

this is the house i grew up in. a smaller home, with a huge backyard. it was definitely my home sweet home. when i was in high school, my parents decided to put an addition on the house so there would be more room for everyone. (that's me on the very right.)

and this is how it looks now--from the front. you can't really see the addition because it's in the back, but it's kind of like two homes melted together. even though it changed drastically, it was still home sweet home.

and this is still the home i live in...i know, weird. it's like i can't let go. maybe i will live here forever...not likely, but maybe. my family all lives down south (in various places--but all south of me), but i choose to stay in my home sweet home.

dear kitty's other mother:

kitty waited all night for you to come and get her for her weekend visit with you. she was so disappointed. you are going to have to make it up to her.

my dad.

i have been blessed to have the greatest dad in the world. i know everyone says that, but seriously, it's true. my dad is the greatest dad in the world and these are a few reasons why:

  • my dad knows everything. when we were little and we would ask him a question, he had an answer. for every question. an answer. he's a genius. (i do realize now that our questions weren't of the rocket science nature, so he probably legitimately knew the answers, but he may have sometimes just pulled the answers out of thin air...but it doesn't matter, at least he tried.)

  • my dad makes me feel special. i was his goldilocks and i still am...even though i haven't had blonde hair since i was in middle school. and maybe sometimes when i was a bratty teenager, i pretended that i hated when he called me that, but deep down i loved it and still do.

  • my dad is the hardest worker. and he taught all of his kids how to work. and i am grateful for that.

  • my dad taught me to love music, and where would i be without that love. some of my most favorite memories of my dad involve slurpees and kingston trio and a drive.

  • my dad knows how to have a good time and when to have a good time...even though sometimes we think that he is growing into a grumpy old man, he can still have a good time.

  • my dad loves to camp (the kind of camping with a trailer and bed and all, but camping all the same) and he made sure that his girls got the opportunity to go camping with him, too...not just his boys.

  • my dad is always there for me. even when i think i don 't need him to be, he is...just like the greatest dad in the world would be...that's why he is the greatest.

  • and finally, my dad does dishes. enough said.
dad, i love you and i am so grateful for you and all you do for me and for our family.
you truly are the greatest!

love, your goldilocks.

sunday scribblings.

prompt #115: guide.

i wish that life came with a user's manual or some sort of guide book. sometimes i feel like i am not where i'm supposed to be, that i'm not doing what i am supposed to be doing and that i'm striving to achieve goals that i'm not supposed to achieve.

i know we all have these moments, where nothing seems clear and everything is confusing...and then i remember that i am in control. i am the one who gets to decide what i want to do and where i want to be and what goals i want to achieve. granted, i have to remember to say my prayers and listen for the guidance from the man upstairs...but in the end, i am in charge.

and so when i feel like my world is upside-down and out of control, i must remember i am in charge and that i get to ask for guidance. i guess that i do have a guide book...my own personal guide book, written one day at a time.

sytycd--week one.

i really am in love with this show, so you better get used to it. i wasn't totally in love with any performances this week. i did, however, decide who my favorite dancer was (for this week) during the results show, though...rayven. check her out.

i did vote, but i'm not telling you who i voted for because i'm not real sure if i like them. they were just the couple i liked the most when i picked up my phone to vote. we'll have to see after next week. maybe i'll tell you then. stay tuned. there will be plenty of my own sytycd commentary to come.

and for the twilight's last gleaming.

i love sunsets.
the funny thing is, i only happen to see really good sunsets while i'm driving. so, being the safe and conscientious driver that i am, i slow down a little, pull out my camera and i take a few pictures.
this is a recent sunset i enjoyed...twilight's last gleaming.

and, of course, a self-portrait of me enjoying a sunset, while driving.

i heart sytycd.

i know i have never blogged about this before, but one of my favorite summer shows is so you think you can dance (or sytycd).

i have to admit, i was totally against the show during the first season and i didn't watch a single episode. i was over the whole american idol thing, which is what i figured this show was...but for dancers instead. and it is...but oh, it is so much better than american idol.

i can't wait for tomorrow night's episode...when we get to find out who the top twenty dancers are. there are so many great dancers this season, so it will be interesting to see how they narrow the numbers down during the vegas round.

i know this is random, but i am just so excited, i had to share. that's all.

and just for fun, this is my favorite routine from last season.

well, it took me some time, but i finally chose the emblem of the land i love.

since this is supposed to be a self-portrait, here is a picture of myself. on memorial day, i took a drive through the valley that i live in and took in the view...of all "the emblems of the land i love."

it rained on memorial day and so the green was so green.

and the grandeur of the green mountains with the snow was a sight to see.

and of course, i had to stop and get a slurpee for the drive.

june?

is it seriously june already? really? where has this year gone? i can't believe that we are in month six. crazy. that's all.
