insight.

i love the sound of: raw musical talent.

i love the sight of: the sun melting away the winter.

i love the taste of: crab quiche. i will have to share the recipe at a later time, but just know that it was delicious.

i love the smell of: fresh air.

i love the feel of: spring coming on.

my american idol.

i'm gonna do it. i'm gonna pick one singer and stick with them to the end. i don't usually do this. i like american idol because i like music and i like to see talented people make their dreams come true. with that being said, i have never been as enamored with a contestant as i am with david archuleta. he is adorable, humble, genuine and incredibly talented. and yes, he is from the great state of utah, but i didn't know that until this week. i have loved him since the auditions and the fact that we share a home state is just a bonus. and i will be outraged if he doesn't win and i will boycott the show forever.

i have never been a voting viewer, but this week i voted, and this is why.

oscar approval.

i didn't write about this movie when i originally saw it, but since it won the oscar for best song, i am going to add my stamp of approval. i loved the movie, but that doesn't mean it is for everyone. what is for everyone, though, is the music. after seeing the film, i immediately purchased the soundtrack and have since purchased two other glen hansard albums. love love love him and his music, especially the music from this movie. the raw emotion of all the music is amazing. but, i am a music junkie, so of course i love it. anyway, give it a listen...and enjoy. (ps. check out his guitar. he used that same guitar in the movie, too. i love it, almost as much as willie nelson's.)

and since we are on the topic of the oscars, i was very glad that marion cotillard won for la vie en rose. another amazing movie, but maybe not for everyone (if you don't like subtitles, don't watch it). but the music is for everyone. i love edith piaf and old french music. check it out, it's good stuff.

my other babies.

just so i don't seem biased or prejudiced, here are some pictures of more babies that are the most beautiful in the world. (yes, kris, i'm talking to you. hahaha.)

me and lillie.

malcolm.

jesse.

lucie.

jake.

kaylie.

adam.

ps. i have two more babies, but i don't have pictures of them.

i can cook.

i love tomatoes and i have recently grown to love garlic, mostly in small amounts. (my feelings about garlic are another topic for another day.) that is why this recipe appealed to me. roasted vegetables are always delicious, too. and trust me, it was delicious and also very, very easy. can't really go wrong with delicious and easy.

roasted garlic and tomato mostaciolli.
(serves 2)

2 ½ tablespoons olive oil
4 to 5 roma tomatoes, cut in half
½ teaspoon sugar
⅛ teaspoon salt
⅛ teaspoon freshly ground pepper
½ garlic bulb, unpeeled
1 cup uncooked mostaccioli or penne pasta
2 tablespoons chopped fresh basic leaves (or 1 ½ teaspoons dried basil)
2 ounces crumbled feta or cubed mozzarella

heat oven to 300ยบ f. place aluminum foil on cookie sheet; generously brush with 1 tablespoon of the oil. arrange tomato halves, cut sides up, in a single layer on foil; brush with 2 teaspoons of the oil. sprinkle with sugar, salt and pepper.

cut ½ inch off the top of garlic bulb; drizzle 1 teaspoon of the oil over garlic bulb. wrap in aluminum foil; place on cookie sheet with tomatoes. bake 55 to 60 minutes or until garlic is soft when pierced with a knife and tomatoes have begun to shrivel; cool slightly.

cook and drain pasta as directed on package.

squeeze garlic into remaining 1 ½ teaspoons oil and mash until smooth. mix with pasta. add tomato halves and basil and toss. top with cheese and serve.

ps. i found this recipe here.

pretty kitty two.

pretty kitty has been using my exercise ball while i am out. i caught her on it the other day. apparently, pretty kitty is also a fit kitty.

my baby logan.

isn't he the most beautiful baby in the world? seriously? he is, i know. well, at least i think so.

and this week, the cute little thing had to spend time in the hospital due to rsv. and my poor sister was under the weather, too. hopefully they are doing much better now.

so, i think the little one looks exactly like his big brother, adam, but that is just my opinion. i can't wait to meet him in approximately a month. oh, i can't wait.

in the meantime, i will "ooo" and "aaahh" over these adorable pictures taken by the very talented aften.

2.15.2008

insight.

i love the sound of: snow melting on the roof and splashing down the rain gutters and drains.

i love the sight of: cement that has been long hidden under icy snow.

i love the taste of: brownie bites done fondue style. de-lish.

i love the smell of: cooking dinner with friends for the big v-day.

i love the feel of: having friends to hang out with on stupid days like v-day.

the grammys.

i don't really enjoy awards shows. at all. i actually can't stand them. the whole "look at me, look at me" attitude of it all drives me crazy. that is why i was shocked when i ended up watching the entire grammys show. that's right, three and a half hours of fun. and i enjoyed it. i loved that there weren't many speeches thanking people we have never heard of and never will again. there were a couple of speeches that were weird and annoying, but the annoying was outweighed by the spectacular musical numbers. carrie underwood, anyone? she was amazing. i also really enjoyed tina and beyonce, even though i mostly can't stand beyonce. chances are, that is the only awards show i will watch this year, but it was a good one. just thought i would share, that's all.

slumpity-slump and happy v-day.

i have been in a blogging slump as of late. it's not because my life has been boring and uneventful lately. lots of stuff has happened. i think i may just be lazy. i promise to turn that around this week, though. in the meantime, have a very happy valentine's day.

and just for the special holiday, here is a song to take you on a trip down memory lane. i don't know why, but to me, this is the perfect (and cheesiest) valentine's day song. (there are a few more on my list, but i will keep them to myself.)

so, again, happy v-day.

sunday scribblings.

prompt #97: fridge space.

hahaha. that is what i think when i think of fridge space.

i live in a house with five other people. and we all have our own food and condiments and milk. this means that there just isn't quite enough room in the fridge. that is why we have two refrigerators. yep, that's right, there are two. plus, we have a full sized freezer, too.

i could probably use all the space in one fridge by myself if i had it my way. but because of the lack of space, i don't buy a lot of stuff that needs to be refrigerated. i also end up buying groceries based on what i can cook and use within a couple of days. and i'm sure this is costing me more money than it would cost if i could buy some stuff in "bulk."

one day. one day i will never have to share anything with five boys again. well, maybe i shouldn't say never. i could have a litter of baby boys one day, you never know. hahaha.

british babies.

this is the reason i want to have little british babies...named charlie.

or asian babies like this one. trust me, i am totally teaching my nieces to do this. (consider yourselves warned, sisters.)

this is the end.

i made a bold statement about my patriots winning the super bowl, but deep in my heart i believe in "any given sunday."

on any given sunday, any good team can win the game.

there, i said it, the giants were good. in the post-season. they had the worst record of any team to play in a super bowl, but they truly had an amazing post-season topped off with a super bowl win.

and i'm not afraid to admit that the patriots choked, big time. and it's happened before to other teams, and it will happen again to other teams. the nature of sports, i suppose.

and yes, the 2007 patriots will be known as the team that almost had a perfect season. but at least they will be remembered, unlike other super bowl losers.

i'm coming to terms with the loss. i'll be over it soon. it was a good football season, and i'm not at all ashamed to be a patriots fan. and after my anger goes away, i'll cheer for them next year.

ps. the yankees still suck.

insight.

i love the sound of: snow falling. i know, i said i hated snow, but there is nothing more peaceful than snow falling in the early morning.

i love the sight of: my sweet and adorable nieces and nephews. especially the newest ones, but i do love seeing them all.

i love the taste of: red meat. a good, old american steak cooked to perfection. ask me about this and i will share my secret.

i love the smell of: salon hair. even better than going to the salon to get that smell is having all the right products at home, so everyday can be a salon hair day.

i love the feel of: climbing back into warm blankets after using the facilities in the morning.

the creepiness of it.

i was at work during the super bowl, so i didn't really get to sit down and watch much of the game, no less the commercials (which are always great). but i did run across this one ad and it might be my favorite. especially the very last line. good stuff.

2.03.2008

just so you know.

my patriots will be wearing another one of these before the day is over.

and if they aren't, then something seriously crazy, out of control and unimaginable happened.
